A Shelter in the Time of Storm
At 64, Ken thought his life was winding down. He looked forward to retiring and spending more time sleeping, traveling, and being a couch potato. But a call came from his son that he needed help with his mortgage, so Ken put retirement off another year.
Then, at 66, when Ken thought he was “good to go”, his oldest daughter suffered the misfortune of being laid off. Once again, Dad came to the rescue.
At 67, with his papers finally turned in, Ken got a call from his youngest daughter. “Your granddaughter was accepted to college, but we can’t afford her room and board.”
Without thinking, the frustrated father blurted out, “Why is it that every time there’s a financial crisis with you kids, I’m the one you call?”
The daughter quipped, “Daddy, you know the answer to that question. You’re our shelter in the time of storm!”
Our Heavenly Father is our refuge from the storms of life. He’s there, no matter what. Call Him!
“For thou hast been a strength to the poor, a strength to the needy in his distress, a refuge from the storm,…”. (Isaiah 25:4a)
