Black History Matters
Why do we need a whole month to celebrate Black History? The question has been asked by both Black and White. And the answer is simple. Black History has largely been ignored, denied, altered, and even hidden from America’s more than 240 years of mainstream history.
What began as Negro History Week in 1926, by noted historian Carter G. Woodson, has now become a major celebration in Black churches, African-American communities, and on TV. Still, there is much left to do. Until there is an honest, accurate and universal attempt to teach Black History in all of our schools, we must use whatever means are at our disposal to “get the truth out”…that Black History matters because Black Lives matter.
"So God created mankind in His own image; in the image of God he created them." Genesis 1:27
