From the moment we are born, our lives are scripted by sin. We are born in sin and shaped in iniquity. If you don’t believe it, watch a few two-year-olds playing together. They make demands and throw tantrums. They defiantly learn NO before they learn YES. Their devious minds concoct hitting and biting as a means of aggression. And we call them cute!

Of course, as we mature, mankind learns to live within the boundaries set by a civil society. But our sin nature is just hiding behind civil interaction and compliant communication. We appear polite and gracious, but secretly, we are sanctimoniously plotting and scheming how our every move can be to our advantage. Why? Because it's in our very nature. Can we shake it loose? Can we shake off the “sin which doth so easily beset us”?
