You're The Man

2 Samuel 12:5-7
Sin
Repentance
Salvation
Forgiveness
Three Point

We all like to be admired. We like it when family and friends tell us, “You’re the man!”. But today’s sermon puts a twist on that familiar 21st century expression.

All of biblical history records King David as a man of sweet, chivalrous, generous, and compassionate nature. His demeaner and character could have squeezed a, “You’re the man!”, compliment from his constituents. But this sermon isn’t about perfection. It’s about imperfection.

“You’re the man, David!” You did it. You didn’t take a lamb and slaughter it. But you did far worse. You took a man’s wife! You took a family’s breadwinner. You took all that was sacred from someone you once called FRIEND.

What kind of friend was that? And why did David do it? This story uncovers a few things we need to admit about David…and ourselves.
