Our scripture text speaks of treasures…both the earthly and the heavenly kind. We’re very acquainted with the earthly kind. At the top of the tangible list, there’s MONEY and all that money can buy…houses, cars, clothing, jewelry, and more. But then there are non-tangible treasures on earth, such as the love of family, the blessing of children, and the fulfillment of a career. We could consider all of this as our earthly treasure. Earthly treasures are okay, but according to Jesus, they have a shelf-life. They have expiration dates. They expire when WE expire.
It is one thing to be blessed on EARTH, and quite another to be blessed in HEAVEN.
