Three Point
If you had to summarize all of religion, what would you say? Would you focus on repentance and salvation? Would you try to explain sanctification and justification? Most of us couldn’t begin to even explain that theological jargon. We just now that we are changed…and for the better.
Summarizing faith is a challenge. But Peter does it for us, and so thoroughly and eloquently. He simply says, “Be holy”. THAT’S the sum of our religion. It’s the result of our conviction. BE HOLY.
Just what does it mean to be holy? Does it mean we should assess our morality? Does it mean we should concentrate on our noticeable behavior? I can tell you that being holy runs much deeper than that. Our faith does not embrace our own concept of “being good”. Our faith embraces a holiness that parallels the purity of the LORD.
