Crushed by a Crucified Christ
Lent
Repentance
Salvation
Three Point
Confrontations are seldom pleasant, but the results can be redeeming. When you were a child and confronted by a chastising father, the result was obedience. When a policeman issues a warning to a reckless driver, the desired result is a safer driver. When an employer warns a chronically late worker that he is facing termination, the desired result is punctuality.
Unfortunately, confrontation does not always produce the desired result. Too often, stubbornness, recklessness and sheer obstinance produce a negative result. Pharaoh was warned, but his hardened heart cause him the loss of his army in the Red Sea. Judas’ refusal to value the Messiah over money and power cost him his life and his salvation. Ananias and Sapphira’s refusal to be honest with Peter cost them their lives.
Refusing to repent can be costly.
