The Price of Partisanship

"We hear a lot about partisanship, but what does it mean? To be partisan is to be narrow-minded, biased, prejudiced, bigoted, one-sided, and above all…limited. We only need to look at government as the perfect example of partisan failure. All the bickering and backbiting gets in the way of progress for the people. The attitude of “my way or the highway” just doesn’t work. It never has and it never will. The greatest accomplishments of man have been, not through “strife and vainglory”, but through the hard work of camaraderie…an expression of mutual trust and friendship. If I were president, the first thing I would do is change the seating arrangement in the House and the Senate…mix it up a bit. Force relationships where none now exist, because nothing that separates ever leads to solidarity.
Partisanship can lead to the downfall of democracy. But partisanship can also lead to the downfall of a club, a business partnership, and even a CHURCH. It can divide and conquer any entity that refuses to find common ground. It was happening at the church in Corinth. "
