How to Get to Heaven

Ephesians 2:8-9
Grace
Eternal Life
Three Point
"We live in a world that loves a résumé. We measure worth in bullet points…degrees earned, deeds done, and reputations built. Even in the Church, we sometimes slip into spiritual scorekeeping, mistaking our moral performance for divine approval. But heaven is not a prize for the polished. It is a gift for the humbled.
Ephesians 2:8–9 cuts through our self-gratification like a two-edged sword: “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast.”
Boasting, in this context, is not just arrogance…it’s idolatry. It’s the subtle sin of placing our goodness on the throne where only grace belongs. It’s trusting in our own righteousness while ignoring the righteousness of Christ. It’s polishing the mirror while neglecting the mercy seat.
