The Danger of Disunity

Three Point

Years ago, a small coastal town depended on a single wooden bridge that connected the mainland to the fishing docks. Every morning before sunrise, fishermen would cross that bridge to launch their boats, and every evening families would walk across it to welcome them home. It wasn’t fancy, but it held the community together...literally.

One summer, the town council got into a heated argument about who was responsible for maintaining the bridge. Some said it belonged to the county. Others insisted it was the town’s job. A few argued it wasn’t their concern at all. Meetings were held. Voices were raised. Fingers were pointed. But while everyone debated, nobody repaired the bridge. And the bridge got weaker.

One morning, before the sun had fully risen, a fisherman stepped onto the bridge…and the center section collapsed beneath him. He survived, but the bridge was gone. The town was cut in half. Businesses suffered. Families were stranded. What had once connected them now separated them. And the saddest part? The bridge didn’t fall because of storms. It fell because of stubbornness. It didn’t collapse from pressure outside. It collapsed from neglect inside.

That’s the danger of disunity. The enemy doesn’t always come from the outside.
