A few years ago, a driver lost control on a rain slick highway, and his car flipped into a water-filled retention pond. Before emergency crews arrived, a passerby who was never identified, pulled over, waded into the deep water, freed the driver, carried him to safety, and then vanished into the night. The survivor later said, “I don’t know who he was. I never saw his face. All I know is… somebody covered me when I couldn’t cover myself.”

That’s the testimony of every believer in this room. Long before we knew God, long before we understood grace, long before we could lift our own heads, Somebody stepped in. Somebody reached down. Somebody covered us when we couldn’t cover ourselves. And David captures that truth in Psalm 32:1: “Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered.”

This psalm is David’s shout of relief, his sigh of release, and his song of redemption. He’s telling us that when guilt tries to expose you, when shame tries to define you, when sin tries to condemn you…God steps in and covers what you cannot fix. And that’s why today, under the authority of God’s Word, I came to tell somebody: God’s got you covered.
